Hi, I’m Lisa Sugarman,
the architect behind
The HelpHUB™
Just over a decade ago, I uncovered a truth that shattered the story I’d been told my whole life—and changed everything.
When I was 10, I was told my dad Jim had died of a heart attack. Over 35 years later, I learned the truth: he had died by suicide. And that revelation blew me apart.
But in the wreckage, something unexpected happened. As I pieced myself back together, I discovered a deeper sense of purpose. I became determined to turn my pain into something that could help others—to share my lived experience, challenge the stigma around suicide, and create a space where people could find the resources, support, tools, and guidance they need when they need them most.
Today, that purpose drives everything I do. I’m a crisis counselor with The Trevor Project, a survivors of suicide loss grief group facilitator with Samaritans, and a storyteller with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). I’m also the Founder of The HelpHUB™—a place built to remind you that you’re not alone.
It all comes down to this: making sure people know there’s always a place to turn and somewhere to go for help.
So I’m really glad you’re here.
